post. (For those visiting math teachers, I didn't really feel like making a new blog just for one little made 4 math monday post. Upside: bonus corgi butt!)I recently got quite the math crush on @Fouss at My Web 2.0 Journey and through her post, found the connection for some Conics Cards. When Cindy, the creator of the Conic Cards, emailed me all the fabulous files, one thing she asked in return was for me to share a favorite activity, so here I am sharing my version of conics cards for graphing transformations. I made 16 different transformations of one graph, along with descriptions, equations, and t-charts for each graph.
I ran out of usable symbols, so resorted to animals and food, which the students enjoyed ("No, giraffe goes with bread!"). I made one set of cards for each group and laminated them. The only instruction I gave was handing out this worksheet:
(Yes, I know it's normally (x-h), which we talked about the next day). Most groups were able to finish in 50 minutes, and were able to complete homework that was matching graphs to equations and writing equations to match descriptions of transformations.

Welcome to #Made4Math! :) Isn't Cindy just awesome? She teaches at my rival high school just across town from me, but we've never met in person! LOL Anyway, I'm so glad that you joined us and I plan to steal your card match, so that you for sharing!
